For a low belt speed we can take a 1400rpm motor. With the standard drive wheel of 10cm it gives a belt speed of 7.3 m/s. With a variable speed control the speed range is 3.7 to 7.3 m/s.
Speed range with a variable speed control and different drive wheels are:
Drive wheel 8 cm – speed range: 3,0 – 5,9 m/s
Drive wheel 10 cm – speed range: 3,7 – 7,3 m/s
Drive wheel 12 cm – speed range: 4,5 – 8,8 m/s

The standard 2800rpm motor and the standard drive wheel of 10cm it gives a belt speed of 14.5 m/s. With a variable speed control the speed range is 7.5 to 14.5m/s.

Drive wheel 8 cm – speed range: 6,0 – 11.6 m/s
Drive wheel 10 cm – speed range: 7.5 – 14.5 m/s

Tip 3 Motor power & VFD
For more motor power, we can take a 2.2kW motor, where normally 1.5kW or 1.12kW is sufficient. A 400V motor can run on the 230V mains with the variable speed drive. With 400V you have more power than a 230V motor.
