Bluing is a process in which steel is partially protected against rust. The “hot” bluing process is treatment of metal referred to as “traditional caustic black”, that is typically done at an temperature of 135 to 155 °C. It is a partial protection against rust. If not maintained, rusting can occur again. When water drops on the blued material, and if not wiped, rust occurs again. For this reason it can be an adequate rust protection but we do not give guarantee.
